Putsborough & Woolacombe, Devon, EX33 1LB

Welcombe to the new and updated Nick Thorn web site & Morocco 2016 Lifeguard & Surf Instructor Asessment date confirmed.

NT16-RHC310-surfinstruct1Nick took his annual jump from Gatwick with a fellow T/A  Keida Abram to run the Surf Coach Life Saver Rescue Course.  Looked after by Surf Berbere (James Bailey thankyou!) in a 5 star waterfront appartment and eating scrummy food at the very popular Surf Berbere Cafe. You should definately try the Morccan omlet!  (Hugely recommended by Keida and George).  Make your own pizza night was one of the top eats of the week, atracting over 35 people with welcoming local staff looking after all your needs.

Novembers Beach Lifeguard & Surf Instructor course was a great sucess.  On the 17th November George Sohl and Nick Thorn arrived in the sunny Morrocan Village of Taghazout.  George having completed a pretty hectic flight hop from Sri Lanka where he is working with ‘Surf and Sole’ surf camp managing a group of 5 staff running high end surf packages for surf and yoga retreats.

The course started off with 3-5 days Surf Coach Lifesaver & Surf instructor T/A progressd, video and photo annalysis for all 13 Participents.  With unseasonal warm clean waves it offered great coaching facilities. The group were able to complete spinal pick ups, un-conscious and conscious board pick ups CPR and first aid amonst other tasks.  Resussy Anne and I have covered a few laps of the globe in the past few years, shes a pretty well traveled torso….Not sure what securities reacation would be if they every assked me to open the bag :-).

We had a few small clean waves and noticed that there was a high percentage of surfers surfing in board shorts and hanging out in boardies.

Thanks to Ian/Dave @ boardshop.co.uk for sorting a few delivery issues out with a replacment so quickly (pesky delivery people dropping and dingging the board). Channel Island Mini and Lost Short and Fat, they both loved the Morrocan Point Breakes and reefs.

Great to have a car to get to the Souk and haggle on a few pressies to take home. I even managed to pick up a real nice leather belt.

Surf Berbere’s next course starts in January with fresh new arrivals of enthusiastic trainee surf lifeguards and surf instructors.  Get in touch with Surfers World for more details on these courses, we still have a few available well sort after slots.  Be great to have you on board!
